Vienna was a great experience for me. It took about 5 minutes for me to find a cathedral after leaving my hostel. I saw Schönbrunn palace as well as the zoo right next to it. Then the night life was so active! I went out with some people from my hostel and just met a ton of people. There is a section of buildings in Vienna that some locals called the Bermuda triangle because it's easy to get lost and there and pubs everywhere. So much fun.
I only had one day in Salzburg, but I still got to see a lot of cool things! The was the Mozart Haus and the cathedral. Both were wonderful. I sat for almost a new hour in the cathedral just looking around. There was a garden that sat in for a while as well. I had a nice relaxing day here in Salzburg.

Munich was beautiful. The English Garden was a wonderful place for a walk and everywhere we went there was a Biergarten. Munich is where we met up with our friend Britta who studied with us at Whitworth for a year, it was so good to see her. She took us to an event at one of her school dorms where we were able to watch the Italy vs. Germany match. Germany wins! It was really fun to watch a game with Germans and get a super authentic experience like that. After Munich we split up for a week so that Isaac could spend more time with his sister and I could go take a look at Austria!
The Augsburg: founded by Kaiser Augustus, population ~250,000, location of Neruda Café (social, cultural, and artistic center for misfits). What more does one need? Ah yes, and they have a very cool large, open town square where many people gathered at night to sit (on the cobblestone ground) and hang out. Main sights, you ask? I would recommend the Hofgarten (a tiny park), the Jugendimmigrationsdienst (ministry of youth immigration), the unlabeled Muslim center for worship I happened upon, and the Waschomat Wäscherei (landromat). Small enough to walk around on foot, and cool friends of Kristin's to spend time with. What can I say? Augsburg is the place to be.
Would I live there? No.
So Schmalkalden is where we met up with our mutual friend Natasha Black whom we studied with at Whitworth! She showed us around and the next day we gave a small recital. I am happy to say it went very well. As a token of thanks we were given some homemade strawberry jam which was delicious which meant it didn't last long!
So we had an interesting journey to Berlin. We decided to try blablacar which is a former of ride share. There was a huge traffic jam which caused us to take backroads, but Google led us in circles so we had some good laughs and got to see some of the countryside. Berlin was wonderful. You can do Berlin in one day,which is what we had, so we split up and got two days out of it!
